Tigers win.
Master the ancient Nepali strategy game of Tigers and Goats
BaghChal (बाघचाल) is a traditional two-player strategy board game from Nepal. The name means "Tiger's Move". It is an asymmetric game — each side has different pieces, goals, and strategies.
Start on 4 corners. Capture goats by jumping over them.
Placed one by one. Trap all 4 tigers to win.
5×5 grid of intersecting lines. Pieces sit on intersections. Some connect diagonally. 25 points total, connected by horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines.
Phase 1 — Placement: Alternate turns. Goats placed on empty points. Tigers move or capture. Until all 20 goats placed.
Phase 2 — Movement: Both sides move along lines. Tigers can also jump to capture.
Capture 5 goats.
Trap all 4 tigers completely.
Played in Nepal for generations. Boards carved into stone in temple courtyards across the Himalayas. Represents the eternal struggle between predator and community.
